Rumblings "Rumblings" is a literary essay about life and adventures in upstate New York and along the St. Lawrence River. It recounts a series of amusing and sometimes very dangerous events that helped shape the author's life while portraying the beauty and dangers of nature from the 1950s to the present. It is part of the book "Living North Country: Essays on Life and Landscapes in Northern New York" published by North Country Books in Utica, New York in 2001. The book is edited by Natalia Singer and Neal Burdick at St. Lawrence University. With writing by 30 authors, meticulously edited, the North Country essays offer a vivid, entertaining portrait of the sometimes harsh, bleak, but richly endowed world in and around the Adirondacks featuring spectacular mountains, lakes, rivers, streams, villages, and the lives of Upstate New Yorkers.
